Domestic Portraits
The series Domestic Portraits represent domestic bodies, objects and spaces. These images are produced as a zine in an attempt to include the everyday domestic in our understanding and consumption of the world around us. Domestic work, spaces and bodies are usually hidden from the world, taking place in private spaces. I desire to make domestic work more public. In Domestic portraits the spaces make-up a work place with many mechanical companions. Although sometimes humorous, the objects, bodies and spaces are approached with respect. They are allowed to engage socially. By rejecting the distinction between human and non-human the images portrays a monist rather than dualist perspective that departs from the hierarchical structures enforced on every day domestic activities (Fox and Alldred 2019).
